15 killed as train collides with vehicle in Hathras, India

Fifteen were killed on Tuesday morning when a Tata Magic vehicle collided with a passenger train near Mendu railway crossing in Hathras (Mahamaya Nagar) district of Aligarh Division.

Four were injured in the accident and have been referred to Aligarh district hospital for treatment. The accident took place at about 7:30am.

It is an unmanned level crossing and villagers lodged a protest at the spot seeking proper railway crossing after the accident. The train moved away towards Kasganj (Kanshi Ram Nagar) after the track was cleared.

SDM for Hathras, RP Kaushik confirmed fifteen deaths in the accident. According to the SDM, another train accident had happened in the past at the same crossing.

The four injured people are in a serious condition. The driver of the Tata Magic car was killed in the accident. Source
