One man drove to the beach with cutting tools in the evening and hewed out pieces of whale flesh, one witness said.
The whales, one female and three males, died on Thursday despite rescue efforts. They weighed about 20 to 40 tons. It was the second time that a group of whales beached themselves on China's coast since 1985.
The local authority said the whales will be buried deep at the spot where they got stranded. Source
