Pair of lungs found on Galveston beach, belong to a dolphin

Galveston - A pair of lungs found on a Galveston, Texas beach, probably belonged to a dolphin said the County Medical Examiner’s Office, but how they got there remains a mystery.

Todd Hamel, his wife and two children were enjoying a stroll along Jamaica Beach when the family's dog discovered one lung near the tide line. Upon further examination Hamel told the Galveston County Daily News, "it looked like an organ of some sort. I moved it around with a stick, flipped it over and saw where the airways come in."

The second lung was discovered just within Galveston city limits. Hamel, a Houston physician, who was on spring break vacation with family quickly bagged the lungs and put them on ice. After notifying local authorities, the lungs were delivered to Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office for analysis. Read More
