The father of an unarmed black teenager shot dead by a neighbourhood watch volunteer has told a rally in New York he "will not stop" until he gets justice for his son.

Tracy Martin, whose son Trayvon was killed in February in Sanford, Florida, told the crowd gathered in a public square that the 17-year-old "did not deserve to die".

Rev Joseph Jeyapaul arrested in India after SEVEN years on the run after 'sexually assaulting 14-year-old girl who sought his advice

A former Roman Catholic priest accused of sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl in Minnesota has been arrested in his native country of India, where he was a fugitive for the past several years.

The Rev Joseph Palanivel Jeyapaul fled to southern India after he was accused of molesting Megan Peterson, now 22.

Ms Peterson came forward last fall to say she was abused by Jeyapaul in 2004 when she was seeking advice about becoming a nun.

The Rev. Joseph Palanivel Jeyapaul appeared Monday in a New Delhi court and will be held in custody pending a formal U.S. request for his extradition, to be filed along with case evidence, government officials said.

In this case all they had to do is compare the 911 recordings. The video has been chopped and edited and is being played by all mayor media outlets around the world turning this into a full blown race hate crime.

Police investigating the February shooting death of an unarmed black teenager by a neighbourhood watchman admitted today investigators may have missed a racial slur by the gunman during his 911 call moments before the killing.

In a call to dispatchers released at the weekend, George Zimmerman can be heard muttering what sounds like 'f***ing c**ns' under his breath as he followed 17-year-old shooting victim Trayvon Martin, police say.

The admission is the latest embarrassing misstep in the investigation, which has sparked outrage in the Sanford, Florida gated community as citizens call for Zimmerman's arrest.

ABC News reports police admitted they may have missed the possible racial remark.

It comes after the Justice Department yesterday announced it would probe the incident as a possible hate crime.

Rape Survey: One In 10 Women Are Victims

As many as one in 10 women in the UK claim to have been raped, according to new research by parenting website Mumsnet.

The survey of 1,609 women found a tenth of those who responded had been raped and a third had been sexually assaulted.

More than four in five of the victims did not report their perpetrators to the police because of concerns over low conviction rates, embarrassment and shame.

The findings come as Mumsnet launches a week-long campaign called 'We Believe You' to highlight the extent of rape and sexual assault, and "the obstacles that society puts in front of those who report them".

Mumsnet co-founder Justine Roberts said: "We simply shouldn't accept that we live in a country where one in 10 women are raped and over one third sexually assaulted.

"Things are made worse by the feeling among many women that they can't talk about these crimes for fear of being treated unsympathetically, denying them access to practical and emotional support when they need it most. Read More

After a meeting with Staff Sergeant Robert Bales, John Henry Browne said: "There's no forensic evidence.

"There's no medical examiners evidence. There's no evidence about how many alleged victims or where those remains are.

"So it's fascinating from a defense lawyer's perspective. Prove it."

Asked if there was evidence of a crime, Browne replied, "I really don't know. Certainly from what I've read, there's very little."

A newsagent has been jailed after she stole a winning lottery ticket taken to her shop by a loyal customer - and her husband tried to claim the £156,000 prize.

Shopkeeper Anne Jeevarajah, 38, kept the lucky ticket when winner Gwyn Badham-Davies, 73, took it to her store to see if he had won.

Police issue warning to internet daters after woman is raped and beaten by man she met online, South West London

Internet daters have been warned after a legal secretary was raped by a man she met on a popular dating website.

Peter Ramsey, 26, beat the woman to the ground, ripped off her tights and had sex with her when she refused him a goodnight kiss at her front door.

Ramsey punched the 27-year-old repeatedly knocking out one of her front teeth and left her with 21 injuries.

Her facial wounds were among the most shocking detectives investigating the case had ever seen.

Japan: 31 Keio University Hospital patients had bone marrow harvested without knowing

Two Keio University researchers took bone marrow from a total of 31 patients without permission, it was revealed at a March 19 press conference on the ongoing case of illicit marrow harvesting at the prestigious university.

The two researchers, a professor and a lecturer of Keio University Hospital's respiratory surgery section, harvested the marrow for use in a clinical study from cancer patients during surgeries -- without the patients' knowledge.

The pair has been found in violation of ethics guidelines set by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, and the university has suspended their activities at the hospital, banned them from publishing their research and applying for new clinical studies for one year, and is considering further punishment.

The announcement of a federal investigation came after the devastated mother of Trayvon claimed the attack was racially motivated.

Speaking on the Today show, Sybrina Fulton, said that neighbourhood watch volunteer Zimmerman targeted her son because of ‘the colour of his skin.’

Police have named the death of Patrick Nicholas Lerch as suspicious.

A police officer who refused to help a pensioner when she collapsed – and subsequently died – from a heart attack has escaped serious punishment.

Off-duty PC Paul Raines ignored 62-year-old Christine Roche’s need for urgent assistance after he became involved in a road-rage row with her husband, Patrick.

Yesterday Mrs Roche’s son Matthew said he was disgusted the 45-year-old officer had been handed nothing more than a ‘slap on the wrist’.

The incident happened as the pensioners were driving home in foggy conditions and the wing mirror of their car clipped PC Raines’s Ford Focus.

After challenging the couple, the officer grabbed Mr Roche, 72, leaving him ‘scared witless’.

As the pair argued, Mrs Roche suffered a heart attack behind the wheel of the couple’s car.

Mark Standish a Top UN figure jailed for sexual abuse of young boy while he was a teacher at notorious boarding school

A top figure at the United Nations started a four year jail term today for the sexual abuse of a boy while he was a teacher more than twenty years ago.

Mark Standish, 48, was a tutor at a notorious boarding school in the late 1980s which came to national prominence when three of its teachers were jailed for 10 years for grave sexual offences against its pupils.

Standish gave evidence for the prosecution against Crookham Court School owner Philip Cadman and two other teachers - William Printer and Anthony Edmonds - at the original trial in 1991.

But he remained under the radar of the police until his victim, who was aged 14 at the time of the offences in 1987 and is now aged 38 years, came forward.

Standish was forced to resign from his £120,000 post in Kosovo as head of security sector programme with the UN when he was convicted by a jury after a 10 day trial last month.

Standish, who had been living with his civil partner, showed no emotion as he was sentenced by Judge Stephen John at Reading Crown Court today. Read More

Fishermen in the EU are to be banned from the practice of removing sharks' fins before throwing the creatures back into the sea to die.

Experts say 'shark-finning' is both cruel and a waste of resources.

European Union nations today said they want all boats in their waters and EU-registered boats anywhere in the world to land sharks with their fins attached.

The proposals still need the support of the European Parliament before they can become law.

EU fisheries chief Maria Damanaki said the law would 'ease control and help us eradicate shark finning,' which she called cruel to the animals and a vast waste of resources.

Sharks are vulnerable to over-exploitation because they mature late and give birth to small numbers of young at a time. Shark fins are in high demand in Asia for soup and alleged cures. Read More

Karen Millen sues Icelandic bank for £500m after she lost business in 2008 crash

Karen Millen, the businesswoman and designer behind the eponymous high street chain, is suing the Icelandic bank she believes caused her to lose everything.

The designer is pursuing a number of legal claims against the estate of Kaupthing after it was revealed the bank was being investigated for fraudulent activity in the run up to the Icelandic banking crash in October 2008.

Kaupthing is accused of failing to admit it was in financial crisis in the months preceding the crash and engineering a cover-up to conceal mounting problems. They stand accused of hiding toxic investments and manipulating the market - allegations that the bank's estate denies.

Ms Millen met with Icelandic investigators in the UK earlier this month, who are examining the events which led up to the crash.

The value of the compensation sought by Ms Millen is in excess of £500m.

Before the Icelandic bank collapse, Ms Millen and her business partner - former husband Kevin Stanford - were flying high in the fashion industry, with interests in Oasis, Whistles, All Saints, House of Fraser, Ghost and Principles, as well as Karen Millen.

Asher Picort who Stabbed his father, Police Dog and Handler Repeatedly to avoid arrest is Jailed for 5 Years

A thug who stabbed a police dog and its handler after knifing his own father in the stomach was jailed for five years yesterday.

Jobless Asher Picort, 21, stabbed his father Robert, 47, several times at his family home in Ipswich, Suffolk, before fleeing the scene on October 25.

Police attempted to arrest him shortly afterwards but Picort refused to stand down despite being Tasered and sprayed with PAVA capacitance spray.

A police dog called Aman then tried to disarm Picort but Ipswich Crown Court heard how he repeatedly stabbed the animal in the shoulder.

Suffolk police dog handler PC Steve Jay, 52, stepped in to try and protect Aman but was then also stabbed in the shoulder and arm by Picort.

Picort pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding of his father Robert Picort, grievous bodily harm with intent of PC Steve Jay, and criminal damage to police dog Aman. read More

Police in Florida are under mounting pressure to arrest a neighbourhood watch vigilante for shooting dead an unarmed black teenager.

The killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin has provoked nationwide outrage and rallies have been held to protest at the failure to arrest George Zimmerman, who shot him.

Trayvon was shot and killed on February 26 while walking through a gated community in Sanford, where he was visiting his family.

Mr Zimmerman, 28, who is white, claims he shot him in self defence.

But witnesses claim they heard Trayvon screaming in distress before the sound of a shot seemed to silence him.

One of the witnesses made a 911 call in which the sound of screaming can be heard in the background before gunshots punctuate the call.
